Dr. Bao is working on the development of novel contrast agents for diagnosis and treatment of human diseases. Of particular interest is tumor-targeted NIR fluorophores, where these small molecules can be used for targeting, imaging, diagnosis and therapy by specifically visualizing target tumor cells with high optical properties and minimized nonspecific uptake in normal background tissues.
