Dr. Corinna Bauer is the director of the Lab for Neuroimaging and Vision Science and an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital with a secondary appointment as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear.

The Lab for Neuroimaging and Vision Science focuses on the application of multimodal MRI techniques (including relaxometry, diffusion methods, fMRI, and morphometry) to study the long-term neurodevelopmental consequences of early brain injury, specifically targeting white matter, neural networks, and the thalamus. Her team is working towards understanding the relationship between brain structure, function, and myelination with performance on assessments of higher-order visual processing in individuals living with cerebral visual impairment (CVI) and related neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions.

Current research projects:

Visual perception and attention in Cerebral Visual Impairment

The goal of this study is to characterize the deficits in visual perception and attention that are observed in individuals with CVI. This study also aims to determine the neural correlates of specific visual dysfunctions commonly observed in individuals with CVI. We are particularly interested in face perception and recognition and visual selective attention.

Neuroplastic changes in structure, function, and morphometry in Cerebral Visual Impairment

The goal of this study is to determine the neuroplastic changes in brain morphometry, structural connectivity, and functional connectivity that occur in adolescents with CVI and relate these to specific visual deficits.
